A lesson on writing a magazine article. I have based on the lesson on the importance of positive role models. The lesson focuses on Jameelia Jamil (positive) and Kim Kardashians’s views on weight in the media. It’s a really interesting topic which my students enjoyed. All four video links provided. A 57-slide PowerPoint on the HOW question in the non-fiction reading exam. The question is ‘How does the writer try to show that Mike Perham’s voyage was really tough?’ The resource includes student exemplars, head examiner tips, model answers and group tasks. The article is an interesting piece on teenager who sailed around the world. I have also included a starter on animal anagrams. The students love it!
A PowerPoint and accompanying VIDEO that looks at all the question in the paper 1 exam (reading & writing). it gives advice, typical questions and model answers for all questions. Very good for a last min revision lesson. I also loop it on a screen for the morning of the real exam.

I have created a L2 reading paper for the new Functional Skills qual. I have used the theme of rock climbing. My students really enjoyed it. Mark scheme included.
I made this PowerPoint based on an old pronunciation guide I found written by the BBC. It’s a guide to elements of pronunciation in the English Language that are the subject of debate. It was used by the BBC to teach newsreaders how to speak! It is very informative and will raise some laughs in the classroom. My students loved it.
